Want to meet new people?
Then meet us, Karmin and Anne. Who are we? We are the dynamic duo running for your Med-2 Council Class Social Representatives. Here are a few fun facts about us:
-Yes, we’ve known and stuck with each other since elementary school, meaning that we work well together and we will be able to use each of our unique skillsets and combine them to create the best experiences for you. Karmin will ensure that every event runs smoothly while also delivering you Instagram worthy pictures; whereas Anne will use her creativity to come up with unique ideas while keeping the party going. In a sense, we’re kind of like a YIN yang – perfectly balanced candidates whose main goals are to unify the cohort and most importantly, tailor events for YU.
We’ll be posting our ideas throughout the week on our Facebook campaign page, but here is a little taste of what we plan on bringing you:
-More inclusive and accessible events!! What does this mean? We’ll be organizing both alcoholic and non-alcoholic events to accommodate everyone and ensure good vibes all around because #safespace. Additionally, we will try to pick convenient locations and dates for activities to reduce travel time and maximize fun time. We also understand that your LOC isn’t the best shugah daddy, which is why we will put our EBM knowledge and perform a thorough cost-effective analysis to ensure an increase in your QALYs during your time in med school. That way, everybody wins right?
-We would also like to collaborate with various other members of the class and MSS councils to arrange activities throughout the year that would touch upon wellness, community and academics. This includes teaming up with the VP Social Spaces for events to be held at the Annex and VP External Affairs to help with sponsors for bigger events, such as a “Food + Pub Crawl” and “Fall Weekend Getaway” just to name a few.
-Participation to some events this year was lacking and we know just the solution to fix that! We propose to organize events that are targeted to all the faces of the cohort, from the baby Med-Ps to the more experienced PhD fellows, including food centered activities (who doesn’t like eating?), as well as fitness related and family friendly outings. We also want to promote attendance by organizing competitions between SGs because nothing gets people together like friendly competition (and winning). There will be prizes for the SG with the most points, but don’t worry, everyone wins in the end because we all had a good time…kidding, may the best SG win.
