The Kastrup Lab is a multidisciplinary group of biochemists and engineers who investigate the biochemical and biophysical processes that regulate blood clotting and use their discoveries to develop novel therapeutics for hemostasis and thrombosis.

Jan 2019 – Congratulations to Dr. Steve Hur, who successfully defended his PhD! He will be staying with us to start off a new project while looking for a great postdoc opportunity.

Dec 2018 – The Kastrup lab attends the annual Michael Smith Laboratories Christmas Party, and Jerry Leung gets 3rd place at the Christmas Bake-Off!

Sep 2018 – New publication with the Pryzdail Lab “Rivaroxaban and Apixaban Induce Clotting Factor Xa Fibrinolytic Activity” in the J. Thrombosis and Haemostasis.

Jul 2018 – Congratulations to Dr. James Baylis, who successfully defended his PhD! He will be staying with us as a postdoc continuing to advance his invented technology towards the clinic.

Jun 2018 – The Kastrup lab enjoy sea kayaking and catered food during their lab retreat on Bowen Island, and discuss the future trajectory for our research.

Jun 2018 – Congratulations to Dr. Vivienne Chan who is the first student in our lab to defend her PhD! She already has a job lined up as a Grant Facilitator at St. Paul’s Hospital. We wish her all the best in her next endeavors.
